NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) is the next generation of deep space launch vehicle designed to take humans out into to the solar system. SLS uses 4 of the same RS-25 engines that flew on the Space Shuttle for the core stage of the rocket. Each engine produces around 500,000 pounds of thrust.
